The Shawano-Menominee County USDA Farm Service Agency will hold an open house from 1-3 p.m. July 12 to provide information about the FSA’s county committee election process. The agency is located at 603A Lakeland Road in Shawano.
County committees are unique to FSA and allow producers to have a voice on federal farm program implementation at the local level. Elected county committee members are responsible for making decisions on FSA disaster, conservation, commodity and price support programs, as well as other important federal farm program issues.
The open house is an opportunity for producers and landowners to visit the FSA office to learn how they can make a difference by participating in the annual election process, said Nancy Swenty, executive director of the local FSA office.
Nomination forms must be postmarked or received in the Shawano-Menominee County FSA Office by close of business on Aug. 1.
To find out more about the election or to obtain a nomination form, visit www.fsa.usda.gov/elections or call the Shawano-Menominee County FSA office at 715-524-4814, ext. 2.
Persons with disabilities who require accommodations to attend or participate in this event should contact Swenty at 715-524-4814, ext. 2, or Federal Relay Service at 800- 877-8339 by July 10.
