The apparent overdose death of a Shawano County man in Marathon County on Monday was followed by the subsequent arrests of four people on multiple drug charges and the seizure of $16,000 in drugs, according to a news release from the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department.

According to authorities, Lucas Groshek, 37, of Tigerton, and his wife, Carolyn Groshek, were “shaking and convulsing” in their car when they pulled into the driveway of a home in the town of Norrie shortly before 8:30 a.m. Monday.

Authorities responding to the scene found methamphetamine in the car, according to a news release.

The couple were taken to the hospital, where Lucas Groshek was pronounced dead on arrival. Carolyn Groshek was listed in stable condition.

Less than two hours later, police in Wausau arrested three people following a traffic stop.

Tou Yongyee Xiong, 33, Susie Cheng, 35, and Leng Ritchie Her, 28, all of Wausau, were arrested in a joint operation by the Marathon County Sheriff’s Department, the Wausau Police Department and the North Central Drug Enforcement Group.

According to police, the arrest resulted in the seizure of 81 grams of methamphetamine, valued at about $8,100; 16 grams of cocaine, valued at about $1,600; 307 grams of marijuana, valued at about $6,200; and a loaded .40 caliber handgun.

Police on Monday also arrested Alan E. Pearcy, 32, of the town of Norrie. Pearcy is expected to be charged in connection with possessing approximately 280 grams of marijuana and other drug paraphernalia and on suspicion that he was growing marijuana in his home, according to police.
