Authorities have released the names of those involved in a head-on crash Wednesday that claimed the lives of both drivers and sent a passenger to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The accident happened on state Highway 47 near the intersection of state Highway 156 in the town of Lessor just after 1 p.m.

John Fischer, 57, of Shawano, and John Lindert, 84, of Brookfield, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Donna Lindert, 81, of Brookfield, was flown to St. Vincent’s hospital. Authorities said her injuries were life-threatening, but there was no further update.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, a 2007 Toyota Camry being driven northbound on Highway 47 by John Lindert attempted to pass a 1991 Mack semi unit.

The Toyota entered a no-passing zone and struck head-on a southbound 2014 Ford Focus being driven by Fischer.

The collision forced Lindert’s vehicle into the northbound semi unit it had been passing.

The semi driver, Warren Carlson, 61, of Prentice, was not injured.

The state patrol is investigating and reconstructing the crash.

Assisting agencies included Shawano County Sheriff’s Department, Shawano County Highway Department, Navarino Fire and EMS, Pulaski Tri-County Fire Department, Nichols Fire Department, and Eagle III Helicopter.
