Photo by Grace Kirchner Sara Jandrin and Preston Lorge have opened King’s Rock ‘n’ Tacos at 281 S. Main St. in Clintonville.

Business has been good at King’s Rock ‘n’ Tacos since the restaurant opened last month in Clintonville, according to co-owner Preston Lorge.

Lorge and Sara Jandrin, whom he met as he was planning the new venture, opened the business at 281 S. Main St. on Jan. 7.

“People said it was about time we got a taco place in Clintonville,” Lorge said.

Lorge, who grew up in Bear Creek and graduated from Clintonville High School in 1988, learned to cook from his father.

“My dad could cook,” Lorge said. “He was a self-employed painter and when business was slow in the winter, he’d cook, and I thought it was not bad for a guy to learn to cook.”

Jandrin learned to cook from her mother, who made soup for several restaurants.

“We cook everything fresh each morning,” said Jandrin, who has worked in several eating establishments..

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.

When the weather gets warmer, they plan to provide outdoor picnic tables and entertainment. Lorge sings and plays drums.

Lorge said so far business has been good.

Customer favorites, he said, include the chili (a recipe from his dad), the King Supreme burrito and the steak wrap. Delivery is offered within the city limits with a minimum $20 order.

The restaurant has an Elvis Presley theme, with his posters decorating the walls.

Lorge said he was named for Elvis, always loved Elvis as he grew up, and some people say he looks like Elvis.
