Strangulation, false imprisonment

A Shawano man is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Monday on charges of strangulation and suffocation and false imprisonment.

Steven D. Pleshek, is accused of choking a woman and preventing her from leaving during a domestic altercation in the town of Waukechon on Sept. 29.

Pleshek could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine on each of the counts if found guilty. He is also charged with a felony count of bail jumping, which carries the same possible penalty, and misdemeanor battery.

He was being held on a $5,000 cash bond.

Felony OWI

A Rosholt man is facing a felony count of operating while intoxicated for allegedly driving drunk with two children in the vehicle.

Omar J. Rodriguez Soto, 25, was arrested in the town of Wittenberg on Sunday after a single-vehicle crash on County Road M. No injuries were reported.

According to the criminal complaint, a preliminary breath test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.16 percent, twice the legal limit.

Rodriguez Soto could face a maximum two years in prison and $4,000 fine of convicted of third-offense OWI with a minor child in the vehicle. He is also charged with misdemeanor counts of operating after revocation, obstructing an officer and bail jumping.

He was ordered held on a $1,000 cash bond and is scheduled for an adjourned initial court appearance Monday.

Forgery

A Gillett man is facing four felony counts of forgery for allegedly passing checks he stole from another man whose signature he forged.

William J. Tank, 29, could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine on each of the counts if found guilty. He is also charged with misdemeanor theft.

Each of the checks were made out for $900, according to the criminal complaint. The checks were passed at locations in Shawano County between April and June. Two other checks were allegedly passed in Oconto County.

Tank is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Oct. 24.

Burglary

A Shawano man has been charged with a felony count of burglary for allegedly breaking into a garage in the town of Navarino in April.

Shawn M. Thorson, 41, could face a maximum 12½ years in prison and $25,000 fine if convicted. He is also charged with misdemeanor theft.

Two chainsaws were stolen from the residence. According to the complaint, Thorson had shown interest in buying one of the saws, which led to him as a suspect.

Thorson is due in court on Oct. 24 for an initial appearance.
