A Tigerton man has been charged with embezzling more than $5,000 from the Badger Amateur Baseball Association while working as secretary/treasurer for the league, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday.

Gordon C. Boldig, 63, is accused of taking league funds for his personal use while overseeing its finances between 2009 and 2012.

The league contacted Shawano County authorities about the missing funds in November after an accountant did an audit of the books and found discrepancies, according to the complaint.

The complaint alleges Boldig took $5,975 from the league over a three-year period. The complaint also states an additional undetermined amount of team fees were also missing in 2009 and 2010.

Boldig could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine if found guilty of felony theft in a business setting.

However, that penalty could be enhanced because of Boldig’s previous felony conviction in 2008 for fleeing an officer.

Boldig is due in Shawano-Menominee County Circuit Court on March 7 for an initial appearance.
