The Clintonville Common Council voted to override Mayor Lois Bressette’s veto of the council’s action to increase the wages of the water/wastewater manager Thursday night.

“I would prefer we not override. It is about policy,” said Alderman Brad Rokus.

Bressette said she felt the wage increase was not fair to all city employees. The water/wastewater manager will receive a 12 percent wage increase or a raise of nearly $8,000. Electric utility staff will receive a 2.5 percent increase in 2018, while all other employees will get a 1.5 percent increase..

Seven votes were needed to override the veto according to Bressette. Voting to override the veto were Alderpersons Steve Kettenhoven, Jim Supanich, Mike Hankins, Mark Doornink, Julie Stumbris, Lance Bagstad and Amy Steenbock. Voting no were Alderperson Brad Rokus and Chuck Manske.
