A New London man is facing four felony child sex crime counts after the alleged assault of a 15-year-old girl he met online last week, according to a criminal complaint filed in Shawano County Circuit Court.
Robert A. Thompson, 24, could face a maximum 40 years in prison and $100,000 fine on each count of using a computer to facilitate a child sex crime and two counts of sexual assault of a child.
He is also charged with a felony count of exposing his genitals to a child.
The case began with a suspicious vehicle complaint in the town of Waukechon on Monday afternoon. A male subject had also been seen getting into the vehicle and a picture of the car’s license plate had also been taken.
The reporting parties were the parents of a 15-year-old girl who subsequently told Shawano County sheriff’s deputies she had met the man through the social media app Whisper.
She told authorities communications with the man began the day before, on Sunday, and that he came to her home on Monday to have sexual intercourse with her, according to the complaint.
Thompson was ordered held on a $25,000 cash bond at a hearing Wednesday. He is scheduled for an adjourned initial appearance Dec. 4.
