Former Iola-Scandinavia administrator David Dyb has been hired as the interim superintendent for the Clintonville Public School District for the 2017-2018 school year.

The school board unanimously approved the hire at a special meeting Monday following the annual tour of the school buildings.

“It is truly an honor and privilege to be selected as the interim superintendent of Clintonville Public Schools,” Dyb said. “I am looking forward to working collaboratively with the board of education, administrators, teachers, staff, students, students, parents and the community to support and strengthen the excellent educational opportunities we provide all our students as they become successful, contributing members of our society and responsible, caring citizens in a diverse world.”

Dyb replaces Tom O’Toole, who retired earlier this month.

Dyb was district administrator of the Iola-Scandinavia School District for four years prior to his resignation, which was approved by the school board in April and took effect June 30.

According to media reports, Dyb was forced out of the Iola-Scandinavia job, which paid about $108,000 annually, when the school board decided it wanted a different leadership style.

Prior to the job with Iola-Scandinavia, Dyb served as middle school principal in Lodi for eight years, was middle/high school principal for two years in Markesan, and was an eighth-grade geography teacher for nine years with the Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau Middle School.

He earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Education degrees from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, is a graduate of the Licensure Program-Educational Leadership at Marian College in Fond du Lac, and earned his doctorate in education at Edgewood College in Madison.

Dyb said he plans to be very visible around the schools and the community. He likes to be involved and sees himself as a lifelong learner.

District officials said 15 people applied for the interim position, which will expire at the end of the 2017-18 school year in June.
