TransCanada Corporation recently presented a $1,000 grant to help fund Junior Achievement programming in the Wolf River District.

“TransCanada is committed to supporting organizations that build strong and vibrant communities,” said Duane Beyer, field operations technician with TransCanada’s ANR Pipeline Company in LaGrange, Indiana. “We are proud to be part of the energy and enthusiasm Junior Achievement generates in classrooms across the United States. The program in Shawano is a great example of how JA prepares young people to become contributing citizens.”

Beyer presented the check to Wolf River District Director Sandy Ebbinger at the Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce on June 8. Also attending the presentation were board chair Dennis Heling, secretary/treasurer Karen Palmer, past chair Nicole Kunschke and board member Eric Gast.

“The support of companies like TransCanada is vital to JA programs like ours,” Ebbinger said. “We thank TransCanada for its support of JA programs for the youth of Shawano and Menominee counties.”

Junior Achievement volunteers teach work readiness, entrepreneurship and financial literacy in K-12 classrooms. JA reaches approximately 2,600 students in Shawano and Menominee counties annually, and more than 162,000 students statewide. JA reaches more than 4.8 million students throughout the U.S., and over 10 million students in over 100 countries worldwide.
