Silvia Voss was looking for a place to hold yoga classes when she spotted the perfect location.
“I was driving down Main Street and I thought, ‘This is it,’” Voss said. “This is where I want to teach yoga.”
She has opened WholisticYoga Center at 138 S. Main St., in Shawano. A grand opening was held in March. The space inside has been redone with new walls, flooring, painting and lighting — all designed to create an atmosphere that is relaxing and soothing.
“Our yoga center vision is to create a space where anybody can find refuge of the mind, body and breath. … a sanctuary for the journey of awakening your true being,” Voss said. “My husband and I put our dedication into it.”
Voss will hold classes throughout the week and at several times each day. Several levels of yoga, from beginner to intermediate, will be offered. Kids and teen classes are also an option if enough people are interested.
“It is wide open,” Voss said.
Classes are available to fit any fitness and experience level, she said.
One WholisticYoga Center class, for example, focuses on restorative yoga, helping manage everyday pain and stress. Another class, Yoga for Golfers, works on flexibility, strength, balance, focus and visualization to improve your golf game. A four-week yoga-in-the-water program also is available.
Voss, a registered and certified yoga teacher, has been involved in yoga for many years.
“It’s a lifetime journey,” she said.
