Two people were killed Monday afternoon when a minivan was struck by a logging truck in the town of Grant, according to the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department.
A 77-year-old man and a 76-year-old woman, both from the Marion area, died in the crash, which took place at County Road G and Leopolis Road in the town of Grant about 4 p.m.
The minivan was westbound on Leopolis Road and entered the intersection where it was struck by a fully loaded logging semi headed northbound on County Road G, the sheriff’s department said.
It was not yet clear whether the minivan missed the stop sign at the intersection, or whether it initially stopped before continuing into the logging truck’s path, according to authorities.
The truck driver was not injured.
The crash is under investigation and the names were being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
