The Waupaca County Forage Council will hold its annual winter meeting Feb. 9 at Bear Lake Resort, N4715 State Highway 22, Manawa.

The program begins at 10 a.m. Mike Rankin, managing editor of Hay and Forage magazine, will be the featured speaker.

Matt Akin, University of Wisconsin-Extension dairy nutrition specialist, will share recent research findings on the potential use of forage sorghum in Wisconsin, as well as preliminary findings from his work at the Marshfield Ag Research Station using spray-on bunker cover materials instead of plastic.

Price Murphy, statewide operations manager for Revolution Plastics, will provide an update on the company’s new plastic recycling program, which began operating in Waupaca County last fall.

Following a short business meeting, council members will hold their annual fundraising auction. Proceeds support local research and demonstration projects and educational activities.

Registration is free to council members and those who pay their $45 membership dues at the door. Non-forage council members must pay $20 for lunch and cannot take part in the auction.

To register, call 715-0258-6231 by Feb. 6.
