The Marion Police Department is planning a memorial on Saturday for fallen K-9 Utos, who passed away Dec. 23 due to a genetic heart condition.
A law enforcement escort will be given to Utos from the Appleton Animal Referral Center to Marion beginning at 9 a.m.
From 10-11 a.m., a visitation will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in the parish hall.
A short service will be conducted for Utos at 11 a.m.
The public is invited to line the streets during the procession and show support for K9 Utos, Officer Eric Krause and the department. The public is also welcome to the visitation and service.
The route tentatively planned for the procession is:
• Leave Appleton Animal Referral Center and take County Road BB to the Fox Valley Technical College to meet up with other law enforcement agencies wishing to participate in the escort.
• Leave FVTC and continue westbound on County Road BB.
• Continue northbound on state Highway 76 toward Greenville.
• Go westbound on state Highway 15 toward Hortonville.
• Travel northbound on U.S. Highway 45 toward Clintonville.
• Go through Clintonville and continue northbound on Highway 45 to Marion.
• Turn left on North Main Street and proceed southbound through Marion.
• Take a left on E. Ramsdell Street and then a right onto E. Garfield Avenue to St. John’s Lutheran Church.
