Battery to law enforcement officer
A Green Bay woman is facing a second felony count of battery to a law enforcement officer for allegedly injuring a Shawano County Jail correctional officer while awaiting a hearing on the first alleged incident.
Judith L. Matos, 27, was arrested after a disturbance in the town of Wescott on Nov. 6 on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.
During the arrest, Matos allegedly injured a Shawano County sheriff’s deputy.
The injury to the correctional officer allegedly occurred the next day at the county jail while she was being restrained during a disorderly conduct incident, according to the criminal complaint.
Matos could face a maximum six years in prison and $10,000 fine on each of the felony counts if found guilty.
Matos is being held on a $2,500 cash bond. She refused to leave the jail for a court appearance Wednesday, according to court records, and an evaluation was ordered.
A status conference is scheduled for Monday.
Possession of narcotic drugs
Two people are facing multiple felony drugs charges after authorities responded to a drug complaint at the Ho-Chunk Casino last week.
Casino staff reported two people in a vehicle “shooting up,” according to the criminal complaint. The incident was also caught on surveillance video.
A search warrant was obtained and the search turned up traces of heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, including needles and syringes, according to the complaint.
John E. Brown, 30, of Nekoosa, and Jessica L. Winters, 25, of Wisconsin Rapids, have each been charged with felony counts of possession of narcotic drugs, possession of methamphetamine and second or subsequent offense possession of marijuana.
Each count carries a maximum possible penalty of 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted.
Both are being held on $3,000 cash bonds.
Brown is scheduled for an adjourned initial appearance Monday. Winters is scheduled Monday for a preliminary hearing.
