An arrest warrant was issued Friday for a Shawano man charged with 10 felony counts of possession of child pornography.
David R. Schultz, 44, could face a maximum 25 years in prison and $100,000 fine on each of the counts if found guilty.
Schultz came to the attention of local authorities in August as a result of an ongoing child porn investigation by the state Department of Justice’s Division of Criminal Investigations that turned up his IP address, according to the criminal complaint.
The DCI investigation indicated Schultz allegedly downloaded illicit material from a peer-to-peer internet network known to traffic in child pornography, according to the complaint.
Shawano County sheriff’s detectives executed a search warrant on Schultz’s residence on September during which they seized two laptops.
According to the complaint, a forensic analysis of the laptops found 10 video files of children, including at least one toddler, engaged in sexual acts or having sexual acts performed on them.
