Officials with the state fire marshal were on the scene much of the day on Thursday to investigate a fire that sent two people to a Milwaukee hospital by helicopter Wednesday evening for treatment.

The identification of the people transported has not been released.

Clintonville Assistant Fire Chief Andy Beggs said Thursday afternoon that he expects a joint press release from the city fire and police departments will be issued on Friday.

According to Beggs, the fire was reported about 8:20 p.m. Wednesday. Fire departments from Pella, Clintonville, Marion, Embarrass, Bear Creek and Manawa, as well as Clintonville Ambulance, responded to the call.

The building at 49 S. Main St. was extensively damaged. A tattoo business and the former Doesn’t Compute are located on the lower level while apartments make the upper level.

Businesses on either side of the building were not damaged.
