One of the best ways to learn about a locally made product is to sample it. Area business people will have that opportunity from 5-6:30 p.m. Oct. 18 when Pigeon River Brewing Company hosts a Shawano Country Chamber of Commerce Business Connection.

Attendees will see live brewing demonstrations, sample food, soda and beer, and tour the new facility at 1103 N. Main St. in Marion. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held at 5:30 p.m.

In fall 2011, Nate and Kayla Knaack purchased a former bar and restaurant on U.S. Highway 45 in Marion with plans to convert it into a brewpub. After many months of renovating and applying for permits, Pigeon River Brewing opened on July 18, 2012.

Demand has grown for Pigeon River’s beer and soda, which they also distribute to other bars and restaurants throughout northeastern Wisconsin. Because of the demand, the company outgrew its original 4,000 square foot facility and moved across the highway. Pigeon River Brewing Company is now located within the Northwinds Banquet Hall at 1103 N. Main St.

The new facility features the same rustic/industrial décor as the previous location. There are booths for more comfortable dining and an outdoor beer garden. Along with craft beer and soda, the brewpub specializes in burgers, homemade pizzas and daily specials.

Business Connections are held monthly at a chamber member business and provide an opportunity for area business owners/operators and community leaders to network in an informal environment. For information on hosting a Business Connection, contact the chamber at 715-524-2139 or chamber@shawano.com.
