Family, friends, co-workers and others turned out Thursday morning to take part in a sendoff for Sgt. Darrell Hansen as he prepares for deployment for Operation Enduring Freedom.

Hansen, who joined the U.S. Army in 2006, is the son of Sue Stueck and Darrell Hansen Sr. He is a graduate of Clintonville High School and a member of the Clintonville Fire Department. He works at Seagrave.

The Clintonville Fire Department provided an escort for Hanson that traveled past the high school and Seagrave.

“I don’t know what to say,” Hansen said about the community support. “I am speechless.”

He was on active duty for nearly five years and has been with the reserve since then. He has been deployed overseas twice. He isn’t certain of the exact date when he will be leaving this time.
