Walgreens will again be the exclusive retail partner for the second annual Red Nose Day on May 26, helping raise funds to fight poverty.
The campaign’s iconic red noses returned to Walgreens store shelves on March 26, officially kick-starting the nine-week charitable campaign.
Through June 4, Walgreens locations nationwide will sell red noses for $1 each and “Red Flair” items for $1 to $5.99. For each red nose purchased, Walgreens will donate 50 cents; for each flair item purchased, Walgreens will donate 10 percent of the purchase price.
Proceeds benefit the Red Nose Day Fund, which supports charities with domestic and international reach aimed at fighting childhood poverty.
Walgreens sold 5 million red noses and raised more than $23 million last year.
“Helping people live happy and healthy lives is our passion at Walgreens, and participating in Red Nose Day lets us do just that for those who need it most kids living in poverty in the U.S. and abroad,” said Alex Gourlay, president of Walgreens.
This year’s campaign will culminate in a live, two-hour broadcast on NBC airing on May 26. The Red Nose Day Special will feature comedians, musicians and Hollywood stars.
