A Shawano police officer sustained an arm injury while trying to subdue a juvenile during a disturbance at ThedaCare Medical Center-Shawano on Sunday evening.
Police were called about 7:30 p.m. to assist with a juvenile who had been brought in by Menominee Tribal Police. According to the police report, the 16-year-old boy had overdosed and was being combative with hospital staff.
Several staff members and a tribal officer were already trying to restrain him when two Shawano officers arrived, according to the report. The juvenile spit in the face of one officer during the altercation and injured another officer’s forearm before he was finally sedated.
Charges were referred against the juvenile for battery to a law enforcement officer and discharging bodily fluids at a police officer.
