A 29-year-old Pulaski man was arrested after a high-speed chase that began in Brown County with a theft complaint late Thursday, according to authorities.
Shawano County sheriff’s deputies were advised the suspect vehicle was headed into the county about 11:30 p.m.
The vehicle was spotted on state Highway 29 near Spruce Road in the town of Richmond.
Deputies tried to pull the vehicle over, but the driver failed to stop and a pursuit occurred, the sheriff’s department said.
Several attempts were made to stop the vehicle using spike strips, including a spike system employed by Shawano police at state Highway 22 in Belle Plaine. The vehicle drove around the spike strips and sheriff’s deputies continued pursuing the vehicle.
The chase reached speeds of more than 90 mph as it continued into Waupaca County, then returned to Shawano County on Highway 22 before continuing into Marathon County on Highway 29.
The Marathon County Sheriff’s Office was able to stop the vehicle and take the driver into custody.
The pursuit in Shawano County spanned approximately 86 miles.
Criminal charges are pending.
Law enforcement agencies involved in the chase included the Shawano, Marathon and Waupaca County sheriff’s departments, along with Shawano, Marion and Stockbridge-Munsee police departments.
