Another potential candidate has filed to run for a Shawano County Board seat, bringing to 11 the number of possible contested county races in the April election.
Wesley Bucholz has filed a campaign registration statement to run against incumbent District 2 Supervisor Patrick Hoffman. The district includes Wards 3 and 4 in the city of Shawano.
Neither has yet turned in nomination papers with the 20 signatures necessary to get on the ballot. Potential candidates have until 5 p.m. Tuesday to do that.
Terms expire in April for all 27 County Board members, and more than a third of the board faces potential challengers.
District 1 Supervisor Deb Noffke, representing Wards 1 and 2 in the city of Shawano, faces a possible challenge from Aaron Milavitz.
Supervisor Mike McClelland, representing District 4 in Shawano, faces a possible challenge from Aimee Zeinert.
In District 5, which covers Wards 9 and 10 in Shawano, incumbent Sandy Steinke has chosen not to run again, leaving the seat open to candidates Steve Borroughs and Lynnae Zahringer.
In other potential County Board races, John Krizan has registered as a candidate for the District 8 seat held by Rosetta Stern in the town of Wescott; District 10 Supervisor Robert Krause, of Krakow, could face a challenge from David Kohn, of Cecil; William Berkhahn, of Bonduel, has filed for a run against District 14 Supervisor Marlin Noffke, of Bonduel; District 17 Supervisor Bonnie Olson, of the town of Belle Plaine, faces a possible challenge from Allan Kuhn, of Shawano; Thomas Madsen has filed for a run against incumbent District 20 Supervisor Richard Giese, both of Gresham; and District 21 Supervisor Bert Huntington, of Gresham, faces a possible challenge from Roger Miller, of Bowler.
At least one race is official at this point. District 27 Supervisor Jon Zwirschitz, of Birnamwood, will face a rematch against former county supervisor Marion Wnek, of the town of Almon. Both have returned their nomination papers.
The spring election will be held April 5. Any primary races will be decided on Feb. 16.
