More races are shaping up for the spring election in Clintonville, although no one has yet filed as a candidate for mayor.
Incumbent District 1 Alderman Jim Krause has taken out his papers for re-election. Clintonville High School Principal Lance Bagstad has taken out nomination papers for the seat but has not yet filed.
District 4 incumbent Mary Beth Kuester has filed her papers for re-election. Political newcomer Tim Zilch has also taken out nomination papers for the seat but has not yet filed.
Incumbents Gloria Dunlavy and Jeannie Schley, representing Districts 2 and 5, respectively, have not indicated if they will seek re-election. No one else has filed in those districts.
In District 3, Amy Steenbock was appointed to the council after John Wilson took a leave of absence for health reasons. The term expires in April. No one has filed papers at this time.
Mayor Judith Magee will resign, effective Jan. 1, due to health issues and to settle a complaint filed against her by former mayoral candidate Tricia Rose, publisher of the Clintonville Chronicle. Magee also has filed non-candidacy papers for her seat on the Clintonville Board of Education.
Incumbent Dirk Weber, meanwhile, has filed his papers to seek another three-year term on the school board. Mark Zachow and Lori Poppe also have declared their candidacies.
Incumbents have until 5 p.m. Dec. 28 to file non-candidacy papers. All candidates must file their paperwork at City Hall no later than 5 p.m. Jan. 5.
If there are more than two candidates in any race, a primary will be held on Feb. 16. The general election will be held April 5.
