Authorities have released the name of a Clintonville man who died Thursday as a result of a two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 45 in Marion.
Marion police said they were notified about 10 p.m. that Edward Diem, 89, succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah.
The crash occurred about 4:48 p.m. near the Wisconsin Department of Transportation wayside.
According to police, Diem exited the wayside and made a left turn onto Highway 45, then proceeded northbound in the southbound lanes of traffic, where he collided with a vehicle driven by a 33-year-old Adam Giebel, of Shiocton.
Diem and a male passenger in the other vehicle — Kevin Glatz, 26, of Kaukauna — had to be extricated by the Marion Area Fire Department.
Giebel and Glatz were transported by the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service to the ThedaCare Medical Center-New London with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said.
A crash reconstruction was completed by the Wisconsin State Patrol.
