Strangulation

A Bonduel man has been charged with a felony count of strangulation and suffocation after a domestic incident in the town of Washington last week.

Billy R. Hellinger, 71, could face a maximum six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found guilty.

He is accused of choking a woman during an altercation on July 22, according to the criminal complaint.

He posted a $650 cash bond on Wednesday and is due back in court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 27.

Strangulation

A Keshena teenager is facing a felony charge of strangulation and suffocation for allegedly choking an 18-year-old female during a domestic incident in Shawano on Sunday.

Louis J. Sanapaw, 18, could face a maximum six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found guilty. He is also charged with a misdemeanor count of domestic abuse-related disorderly conduct.

Sanapaw was freed Wednesday on a $1,500 signature bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 28.

Felony theft

An Appleton man is accused of theft by contractor for allegedly taking $4,000 from a Shawano business for roof repair that was never performed.

Darren M. Olson, 45, is accused of taking a down payment in June of last year to repair a roof at Montour Heating and Cooling, 137 S. Washington St.

According to the criminal complaint, the job was never started and no materials were ever ordered.

Olson could face 3½ years in prison and a $10,000 fine if convicted. He is also charged with two felony county of bail jumping.

According to court records, Olson was previously convicted in 2013 in Winnebago County of issuing worthless checks and false representation.

He is scheduled for an initial court appearance on the new charges on Aug. 17.

Auto theft

An Aniwa woman has been charged with stealing a vehicle from a residence in the village in March.

Jessie L. Rose, 33, could face a maximum six years in prison and a $10,000 fine if found guilty of operating a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent.

She is accused of stealing a 2003 Dodge Caravan on March 26, according to the criminal complaint.

She was taken into custody by Marathon County authorities after she and the vehicle were located in Rib Mountain.

She is scheduled for an initial court appearance on Aug. 10.
